UOL shines at CTBUH Awards with One Bishopsgate Plaza

UOL received recognition at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) Awards, with One Bishopsgate Plaza clinching the Award of Excellence for Best Tall Building Europe.

The 42-storey integrated development, located in London’s historic financial district, was developed by UOL with renowned consultants Stanhope PLC, PLP Architecture and Yabu Pushelberg. The tower houses the first Pan Pacific hotel in the United Kingdom and The Sky Residences, which comprises 160 luxury apartments. The modern skyscraper blends harmoniously with the 144-year-old Devonshire Row, which was meticulously refurbished to house offices and retail shops.

UOL Chief Corporate Engineering and Development Officer, Mr Chan Weng Khoon, and PLP Architecture Director, Ms Tina Qiu, presented the project to a panel of judges during the CTBUH International Conference, and the awards results were announced at the event held at Marina Bay Sands on 18 October 2023.

This year’s conference theme of “Humanizing High Density” focused on the concept that high-density urbanisation can promote healthy living, working, and active civic and social engagement. The conference participants were also offered the opportunity to visit two of UOL’s hotel, which are shining examples of how we integrate nature into our buildings: “Hotel in a Garden” for PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering and “Gardens in the Sky” for Pan Pacific Orchard, which fit in with the theme of the conference. PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering was also featured as the main photo on the conference website, showcasing the hotel’s architectural significance and its contribution to Singapore’s skyline.

Additionally, UOL Group Chief Executive Liam Wee Sin was among four individuals featured in the conference journal. Mr Liam provided his views on the theme and shared how UOL’s projects fit in, citing examples of Newton Suites and Avenue South Residence, apart from the two iconic green hotels. A case study of how Pan Pacific Orchard demonstrates a high-density, high-amenity build environment, was also featured in the conference journal.

The recognition at CTBUH Awards underscores UOL’s relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation in urban development. The Group also remains committed to working with its dedicated partners and stakeholders, whose collaborative efforts made all this possible.
